Growing up in Montana we found many things to entertain ourselves. One of the homes we lived in was near an irrigation canal. This canal was about four feet deep and ten feet across from shore to shore, with relatively steep banks. One very hot day, a few of our neighbors joined us as we rode our horses to the canal. I jumped on our most gentle palomino horse. We rode bareback into the water to cool off. I stopped my horse in the middle of the canal. We tied the other horses to the fence near the canal. One by one, we took turns jumping off my horse into the canal. This horse was so good about standing in the water and letting us climb on her and jump off her. She was so sweet and didn’t mind all the splashing, kicking, laughing, and ‘horse play’.
Finding joy… each and every day… sometimes is a challenge, but it’s a challenge that each of us are up to. With the help of the Lord, whether it’s slashing in a canal or hanging out of friends, God puts things and people in our lives to help each of us find joy, no matter what else is happening in the world around us. We just need to look at what is right in front of us.. and Dive into joy!
“This is the very day of the Lord that brings
gladness and joy, filling our hearts with glee.” Psalms 118:24
